Water Service Interruption Advisory

In the event of a water closure as part of planned work on the water system, affected citizens will be informed 24 to 48 hours in advance via door hangers and CodeRed alerts.

WATER CLOSURE AND BOILING WATER ADVISORY NOTICE

The first door hanger distributed to advise of a drinking water supply interruption (water closure) mentions two important steps:

  1. The date of the water closure, the start time as well as the expected time of restoration. This information is written manually by the person in charge of distributing the notices.
  2. A preventive boiling water advisory is systematically in effect as soon as the water is put back into service. Residents are therefore required to boil water for one (1) minute before consuming it, until the boil notice is received. You may, however, use the unboiled water for washing and cleaning purposes or for washing yourself.

END OF BOIL-WATER ADVISORY

Before the water system is restored, the water is tested. Once the Town receives confirmation that the drinking water can be consumed again (normally 24 hours after the water closure), citizens will be informed via a second door hanger announcing an end of boil-water advisory. Following this notice, it is no longer necessary to boil tap water, you must simply run it for approximately one (1) minute until it is clear again.
