Fireplaces and wood-burning stoves
Wood-heating systems
It is permitted to use an existing wood-burning appliance or fireplace until July 1st, 2022.
Following this date, all homes will have to comply with the EPA or CSA’s emission rate requirements. New inserts must be CSA or EPA-certified and must respect the following polluting particules emission threshold: 2.5 g/h or less.
Smog day
It is prohibited to use any solid-fuel burning device during smog alert days with the exception of an electric power outage situation of more than three (3) hours.
