Detached garage and outdoor storage
Detached garages and sheds are governed by the same rules, the only exception being small sheds of less than 11.5 sq. m (120 sq. ft).
- Cannot be located less than 3 m (9.8 ft.) from any property line in the rear setback and less than 6 m (19.7 ft.) from the property lines in the side setback. No roof of the accessory building may project closer than 2.5 m (8.2 ft.) from any property line.
- Unless attached to a main building, no accessory building can be located within 3 metres (9.8 ft.) of a main building.
- Unless attached to another accessory building, no accessory building can be located within 1 metre (3.3 ft.) of any accessory building.
- In residential zones, the maximum height of any accessory building is 4.5 m (14.8 ft.), or the height of the main building if that building is lower than 4.5 m (14.8 ft.). The accessory building cannot have more than one (1) storey.
The maximum area of detached garages and sheds is set according to the following rules:
- The floor area of a garage or carport not integrated into the main building may not exceed 70 square metres (735.5 sq. ft.)
- The total floor area of all accessory buildings including garages and carports not integrated into the main building may not exceed 5% of the parcel area.
- The total area of all buildings on the property may not exceed 16% of the parcel area.
*the surface area of the house and any structure with a roof must be included.

Small garden sheds not exceeding 11.5 sq. m. (120 sq. ft.) in area and 3.1 m (10 ft) in height from the ground are authorized from at least 1 metre (3.2 ft.) from any property line, but only when installed in the rear yard.

- Explanatory pamphlet from the manufacturer or a plan of the structure
- Image of the planned building
- Application form and fees
