Community Organizations

Baie-D’Urfé distinguishes itself by its unique town spirit. Numerous organizations contribute to citizens’ sense of belonging to their community. No matter the season, activities are offered year round to satisfy all possible tastes and interests.

The Pillars of this Town

Volunteers are the pillars of this Town. They are involved in every part of our life: from public security to recreation to culture and sports. Baie-D’Urfé volunteers are always ready to lend a hand and make sure our citizens have the highest standard of living. They are integral to the Baie-D’Urfé way of life, an invaluable resource that residents can always count on.

Baie-D’Urfé Citizens’ Association

Since 1947, the Baie-D’Urfé Citizens’ Association (CA) has represented the interest of residents to Council. Every citizen is a an ex-officio member of the Association and is invited to attend their monthly meeting which are held every third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Fritz Community Centre.

Community Events

The CA also organizes many social events throughout the year such as the Baie-D’Urfé Days, the Winterfest and more recently, the Mothers’ Day breakfast and the Toy Drive. It also awards one graduating student of each school in Baie-D’Urfé with the Nancy Friedman Youth Citizenship Award annually.

The News and Views

The Association publishes ten editions of the News and Views each year. The magazine provides local news as well as information about Town events and activities. It is distributed to all Town residents and to all companies in the Industrial park. You will find details on Town recreational events, volunteer activities and community group articles. For any questions regarding the magazine or to purchase advertising space, please contact Tony Brown at 514 457-1592.

The Municipal Newsletter comprised of 8 to 12 pages inserted in the first pages of the News and Views, is written, prepared and submitted by the Town’s Communications department.

You can find a column by the Mayor, a Council communiqué, the latter written by a different Councillor for each issue on a rotary basis, an Environmental section ending with a What's New section comprised of several Town information and reminders.

Fritz Farm Youth Gardening Program

The Fritz Farm Youth Gardening Program (FFYGP) is a non-profit organisation with two objectives:

  • To teach our youth about growing your own food, responsibility and social values and to reconnect them and their families to the source of the food they eat in a world of supermarkets, international food transport and heavily industrialized farming practices.

  • To be able to provide fresh, locally grown produce to nearby food banks, meals-on-wheels and similar non-profit, socially responsible, organisations that are in need of such food.
