Swimming pool and hot tub
2010, the provincial government adopted a law regarding pool and spa safety. The Town is obliged to apply this law.
In additional to provincial law, the Town has certain supplementary rules to respect:
Distance between a pool and a main building:
No pool can be constructed at a distance to the main building less than the depth of the foundations of said building. However, a pool may be constructed at a lesser distance if the stability of the two structures is not reduced. The building inspector may require an engineer’s report certifying the stability of the two structures.
Distance between a pool and any part of a septic facility:
The minimum distance between a pool and any part of a septic facility is 3.0 metres (9.84 ft.)
Documents required for a permit application:
- Certificate of location
- Details of the fencing surrounding the pool
- Explanatory pamphlet from the manufacturer or a plan of the structure
- Application form and fees
