Construction work on Lakeview and Sunny Acres Road (2022-2024)

The Town of Baie-D'Urfé wishes to inform you that :

  • Work Schedule: the contractor Ali Excavation will start the work next Tuesday, September 6 2022.
  • The work will be completed on November 30 2022 followed by the laying of sod scheduled for spring 2023.
  • Work schedule: Work will be performed Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Access to your property: Access to your driveway will be maintained at all times and the site will be restored at the end of the work.
  • Communication: Door hangers will be distributed 24 to 48 hours in advance to advise you of water closures.
  • Work Info: We invite you to consult the work info tab on our website for project updates or to write to us at the work info email box.

Timeline no.1

The contractor will begin work on Lakeview Street. Traffic on Victoria Street will be maintained at all times except when work is required at the intersection of these streets.

To the residents of Lakeview and Sunny Acres, please be advised that as part of the rehabilitation work, the contractor will be doing pre-work video surveys. Afterwards, you will be able to follow the progress of the work on our website. Thank you for your cooperation.

WORK RESUMPTION - MAY 2023

UPDATED WORK SCHEDULE - JUNE 22, 2023

The Town of Baie-D'Urfé would like to inform you of the following:

  • Finalization of the installation of drainage infrastructure from June 26 to 29, 2023
  • Corrections of deficiencies from June 26 to July 7, 2023
  • Installation of the lawn on June 27 and July 4, 2023
  • Leveling and paving of Sunny Acres Street July 17 to 21, 2023
  • Leveling and paving of Sunny Acres Street August 8 to 17, 2023

In the event that you are unable to attend the August 24, 2022, information session, please be assured that, following the meeting, the engineering firm's presentation and plans will be added to this section of our website. Reconstruction of Concrete Pavement on Highway 40 Eastbound (MTQ) 

Resumption of concrete pavement reconstruction work on Highway 40 eastbound in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and Baie-d'Urfé

The ministère des Transports (MTQ) informs us that the reconstruction of the concrete pavement of Highway 40 eastbound will resume on April 16 following its interruption for the winter period.

The preparatory work for the implementation of the contraflow will be done mostly at night to reduce the impact on traffic.

Once the A40 westbound contraflow lane is put in service, on the evening of April 29, the left lane of the service road will be obstructed between Morgan Boulevard and Lee Avenue until the work is completed.

Resumption of concrete pavement reconstruction work on Highway 40 eastbound from Baie-D’Urfé to Kirkland

The ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable informs us that the reconstruction of the concrete pavement of Highway 40 eastbound will resume on May 29 2023.

The preparatory work for the implementation of the contraflow will be done mostly at night to reduce the impact on traffic.

The A40 westbound contraflow lane is scheduled on May 27.

CLOSURE OF HIGHWAY 40 AT BOUL. ST-JEAN FOR THE REM

Closure of Highway 40 at boul. St-Jean from August 2 to September 10, 2021, at night and on weekends for the REM. For more details, consult the following documents:

Reconstruction of Concrete Pavement on Highway 40 Eastbound (MTQ) 

As of May 3, 2021, the Ministère des Transports (MTQ) will begin reconstruction work on the eastbound pavement of Highway 40, from Anciens-Combattants Boulevard to Lee Avenue, in addition to opening the service road in the west sector to Pirie Avenue. This phase of work is the first of a three-year investment project. Most traffic will be diverted onto the westbound pavement of Highway 40 with dynamic contraflow traffic management during peak hours.

The Town will keep you informed of any future developments in this project. We strongly recommend that you follow the information provided by the MTQ by consulting the Québec 511.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Starting June 20, at 5 a.m., the Ministère des Transports (MTQ) will proceed with the complete closure of the eastbound pavement of Highway 40, as part of the reconstruction of the A-40 eastbound pavement in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and Baie-D'Urfé. Traffic will be diverted in the opposite direction, between Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants and the Lee Avenue area, where traffic will be diverted in the opposite direction. Access through the industrial sector will be from Exit #41 - Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue / Boul. des Anciens-Combattants since exit #44 - Morgan Blvd. Morgan will be inaccessible by the contraflow lane on Highway 40.

This scenario will be in place until December, and will resume next year after a winter break.

Shoreline Stabilization and Replacement of the Outfall at Bertold Park

Beginning August 30, 2021, works will begin for the shoreline stabilization and replacement of the outfall at Bertold Park and will last for a maximum of six (6) weeks.

Access to the park will be maintained at all times for park users. However, please note that the areas impacted by the work will be temporarily inaccessible. In addition, users of the dog park will not have access to the lake during this period for safety reasons. Considering that the work will begin at the end of the summer, the revegetation will take place in the spring of 2022.


Construction Work on the Whiteside Taylor Centre and Municipal Library Parking Lot

  • Start date: August 16, 2021
  • Expected completion date: Week of October 25, 2021

Starting August 16, 2021, work will begin on the Whiteside Taylor Centre and Municipal Library parking lot, which will run Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The work is scheduled to be completed by September 30.

The parking lot will not be accessible during the duration of the work. Whiteside Taylor employees and visitors will be asked to temporarily use the Fritz Community Centre parking lot or the Curling Club parking lot.  Safe pedestrian access to the building will be maintained at all times, and will be managed by signage (the signage plan will be available shortly).

A short-term drop-off area will be accessible at all times. Please note that Lakeshore Road will have to be closed between Morgan and Churchill Streets during some phases of the work and for short periods of time. However, local traffic will be accessible at all times.

Construction Work On The Access Road And The Parking Lot Of The Fritz Community Centre

  • Start date: June 7, 2021
  • Expected completion date: August, 2021

As of Monday June 7, 2021, construction work on the access road and the parking lot of the Fritz Community Centre will be taking place. During the construction work, some parking spaces of the Whiteside Taylor Centre will not be accessible starting this Friday, June 4. The eastern portion of the Whiteside Taylor Centre parking lot entrance will be reserved for construction access. Signs will be installed to clearly indicate the work zones and ensure the safety of all.

Update of August 17, 2021: The Town is preparing to conduct a preliminary acceptance of work the week of August 23.

Rehabilitation Work on Lakeshore Rd West and Various Streets

  • Start date: June 21, 2021
  • Expected completion date: August 6, 2021

Starting June 21, 2021, work on Lakeshore Road West will begin with the excavation of two exploratory test pits at the Morgan/Westchester and Lakeshore/Sunny Acres intersections. During this work, there will be a local traffic hinderance that will be managed by flagmen and signs.

Rehabilitation work on the wastewater system will follow starting June 22, on Gay Cedars, Case Streets and then Lakeshore Road. At the same time, works on the aqueduct water valves on Lakeshore Road and transverse streets will take place from June 28 to July 22.

Once the wastewater system and aqueduct works are completed, we will begin paving and resurfacing of the roadway starting July 29.

As of June 28, 2021, a detour road will be implemented to bypass Lakeshore Road. Due to ongoing construction, Lakeshore Road will be used for local traffic only. Traffic will be diverted to St. Andrews, Cambridge and Westchester streets. Signage will be posted to direct access to parks, clubs and public buildings within the work zone.

Please note that the speed limit on the detour road will be reduced to 30 km/h.

As of September 1st, 2021, paving work will begin between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Lakeshore Road, from Gay Cedars Street to the Whiteside Taylor Centre.

Traffic on Lakeshore Road will not be permitted during paving. We also ask that travel be limited immediately after paving to allow the asphalt to cool properly. The Yacht Club and the dog park will not be accessible during this period as well.

Please note that following the paving, a new detour route will be implemented and will go via Churchill and Westchester streets. 


Rehabilitation Work on the A-40 Service Road

  • Start date: June 14, 2021
  • Expected completion date: Week of October 29, 2021

Starting on June 14, 2021, for a period of 16 weeks, complete rehabilitation of the infrastructure will take place on 1.2 km of the service road, from the Morgan interchange to the A-40 entrance ramp located at the eastern end. The work will be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and include the replacement of 25 street lights and wiring, as well as two fire hydrants and isolation valves on the aqueduct system. . Please also note that work mandated by Hydro-Québec will also take place from June 14 to August 13, 2021 on the A-40 service road. This work will cover approximately 1.35 km and will mainly interfere with the right lane of the service road, between the addresses of 20 700 and 19 000 TransCanada Highway.

During this intervention, there will be a partial obstruction to traffic which will be managed by the presence of traffic signs. However, be assured that an entrance to the industries will be maintained at all times.

Geotechnical drillings

The Town has mandated Laboratoire GS to conduct geotechnical drillings on the following streets and areas until November 12, 2021:

  • Sunny Acres
  • Lakeview
  • A portion of Surrey
  • Allen Hill's Park area

Obstruction on the right lane of the Highway 40 Service Road (Hydro-Quebec)

As of June 28, 2021, Hydro-Québec’s subcontractor installed signage which covers their work in progress. This road sign will obstruct the right lane of the highway 40 service road, in preparation of the work which will be done for the future needs of the REM project.

The signage will be in place until the end of Hydro-Québec’s work, which is scheduled for August 13, 2021.

The entrance and exit ramps at Morgan Boulevard will remain open to traffic. The crossings at the ramps for Morgan Boulevard will be done during the weekends.
