Saturday, March 18, 2023, the Town invites you to participate to the 2nd workshop regarding the Planning By-laws of the Town of Baie-D’Urfé as part of the Regulatory Reform. This in-person brainstorming session will take place at the AVH School gymnasium, 216 Victoria Street, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

During this workshop, participants will be asked to express their opinions on certain themes that will be discussed in different "round tables".

The objective of this meeting is to take the pulse of the population regarding the proposed content of some prescriptive regulations in urban planning of the town. (zoning and construction)

Places will be limited and no reservation is required. A recording of the workshop will be available online afterwards.

What are the prescriptive regulations in town planning?

Whereas the urban plan is a document that establishes the guidelines of the space organization of the Town, the prescriptive regulations are the tools used to concretely apply standards. These standards must reflect the urban plan guidelines.

  • Multiple by-laws are prescriptive, more specifically, the zoning and construction by-laws
  • They have a wide variety of content, for example, standards for tree cutting, the impermeable surfaces ratios, the rate of establishment, the land coverage ratio, the building sizes, etc.
  • Standards imposed in these regulations may be applicable both for private and public properties
  • The standards in these regulations are quantifiable and specific
  • Prescriptive regulations are key reference tools for owners and professionals when designing projects and for municipal officers when analyzing permit applications and certificates.
