Emergency Preparedness Week 2026 – Acting Together for Everyone’s Safety
Published on April 28, 2026
Emergency Preparedness Week will take place from May 3 to 9, 2026. This year’s provincial theme, “Acting Together for Everyone’s Safety,” highlights that emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility between citizens, municipalities, and partners.
In an emergency, you are the first person responsible for your safety, your family’s well-being, and the protection of your property. Being prepared helps reduce the impacts of a disaster and allows for a more effective response.
Are you prepared?
Take a few minutes to make sure you are ready to respond to an emergency:
- Prepare or update your family emergency plan
- Build an emergency kit for at least 72 hours
- Identify your key contacts
- Learn about the risks in your area
In an emergency, you may need to stay at home for several hours or days, or leave quickly if required. Being prepared makes all the difference.
