Residential Pools: Changes to the Provincial Regulation

Following the reinforcement of the regulation by the Quebec government, all pool owners will have to comply with the Residential Swimming Pool Safety Regulation, whether they were built before or after November 1, 2010. You will have until July 1, 2023 to comply with this regulation.

Here are a few requirements to consider:

  • The pool must be enclosed unless the walls are at least 1.2 m high for an above ground pool and at least 1.4 m high for a removable pool.
  • Any door to the pool must be equipped with a safety device that allows it to close and lock automatically.
