Reforestation work – upcoming interventions
Published on March 19, 2026
As part of its efforts to protect and enhance its natural environments, the Town will soon undertake site preparation work for a reforestation project.
Starting the week of March 23, 2026, interventions will take place in certain wooded areas, including the removal of buckthorn (an invasive species) as well as other vegetation that hinders the natural regeneration of forests. Light grading work will also be carried out to create favourable conditions for planting.
Although these interventions may temporarily change the appearance of certain areas, they are essential to restoring the ecological balance of the woodlands. Buckthorn, in particular, prevents the growth of native species and harms biodiversity. Its removal will make it possible to restore the space needed for local trees and shrubs to establish themselves sustainably.
These works represent a key step toward creating forest environments that are more resilient, diverse, and better adapted to current climate challenges. In the next phase, they will enable the planting of trees that are better suited and beneficial to local wildlife and plant life.
The Town thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation in the completion of this project, which is essential to the health of our ecosystems.
