Published on May 13, 2024

Thanks to the concerted efforts of all our residents, Baie-D'Urfé continues to make progress in effective waste management. Our results show an improvement in sorting and waste reduction, but we can still aspire to better performance to further reduce our environmental impact.

The results of your efforts in numbers:

  • Diversion Rate: In 2023, our waste diversion rate reached 71%, a clear improvement from the 58% of the previous year. This progress demonstrates the effectiveness of our collective efforts to reduce the volume of waste directed to landfill sites.
  • Recycling: We recorded an increase in the collection of recyclable materials, reaching 419 tonnes this year, compared to 407 tonnes in 2022.
  • Compost: The collection of organic materials also saw a slight increase, with 691 tonnes collected, compared to 683 tonnes in 2022.
  • Household Waste Reduction: Household waste decreased, from 810 tonnes in 2022 to 753 tonnes in 2023.

We are on the right track to becoming an even more sustainable and environmentally friendly community. However, the continuation of our commitment and the willingness to continually improve our practices are crucial for achieving our environmental goals.

Together, let's continue to innovate and encourage every member of our community to actively participate in our waste management efforts!
