Power outages - Ice storm update
Published on April 6, 2023
Updated on April 12, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. - Our Public Works teams have been deployed to assist and clear fallen branches and trees during the storm.
- For the safety of the public, it is important to stay away from electrical wires that have fallen to the ground and to call 911 to secure the area.
- Also, do not use any fuel-burning lighting or heating equipment, generators or portable stoves designed for outdoor use (barbecues) inside homes. The risk of asphyxiation and poisoning is significant.
- Furthermore, we invite you not to move the cones installed for safety reasons.
- If you notice a problematic situation, please report it to 514 630-1234.
We remind you that to know the state of the electrical network you can consult the website https://pannes.hydroquebec.com/pannes/
We ask that you avoid unnecessary travel to allow our teams and other responders to work in the field.

Be careful: avoid green spaces
For safety reasons, the Town of Baie-D'Urfé invites you to avoid using the parks, trails and green spaces located on its territory. Many trees are weakened and may represent a risk to public safety.
Furthermore, we invite you not to move the cones installed for safety reasons.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Vigilance concerning space heaters
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless, invisible gas that can cause intoxication leading to permanent injury or death. Carbon monoxide is produced by appliances requiring fuel such as gasoline, natural gas, propane, kerosene, naphtha or wood. Various household appliances produce carbon monoxide: propane-fuelled appliances, gas-powered engines, barbecues, lamps, space heaters, patio heaters, generators, etc.
Prevention tips
- Leave your outdoor appliances outside. This includes generators, camping appliances, and propane or charcoal-fuelled devices.
- When using a generator, place it outdoors, in a well-ventilated location, and make sure to point the exhaust pipe away from windows and openings.
- Keep constant fresh air supply in your home if you are using fuel-burning appliances.
- Make sure the exhaust pipes of these appliances are unobstructed.
What to do if you have been exposed to carbon monoxide:
- Go outside.
- Leave the door open for ventilation as you exit the premises.
- Dial le 9-1-1.
- Wait for a firefighter to authorize your return indoors.
- Watch out for any symptoms that family members may experience.
Damaged electrical mast
If the mast of your electrical installation has been damaged by the ice storm, like the one in this photo, you must call an electrician to repair or replace it.
In the event that one of your own components, like a service mast or spool rack, is damaged, Hydro-Québec will not be able to restore your connection until you have had the necessary repairs done.
Beware of fraudulent e-mails in the name of Hydro-Québec
Emails and text messages claiming to be associated with Hydro-Québec are currently being sent to many of the company's customers. These messages are fraudulent. You must be vigilant. Do not click on the hyperlinks they contain: they very often lead to a fake Web site with Hydro-Québec's corporate logo or to an Interac transfer site.
Special Branch Collection - Tuesday, April 11, 2023
Due to the recent ice storm, the Town of Baie-D'Urfé is offering a special collection to citizens whose trees have lost branches. Exceptionally, the Town will also collect large logs if they are placed at the curb.
Due to the large volume of branches at the roadside, it may take a few weeks to collect them.
Thank you to the volunteers and residents who are mobilizing on the territory to help their neighbours.
More information will be provided as the situation evolves.
