Drinking water sampling and analysis campaign by City of Montreal 2025

Published on July 15, 2025

The City of Montreal will carry out its annual sampling campaign aimed at measuring the presence of lead and copper in tap water, under the Regulation respecting the quality of drinking water. The results of this annual sampling are required by the Ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP).

If you wish to participate in this campaign and your residence was built before the 1970s, you must contact the Public Works Department at 514 457-2877 before August 1st, 2025.

Please note that five (5) private properties will be analyzed. Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The samples will be taken on September 3 and 4, 2025. The visit, lasting approximately 50 minutes including a 30-minute waiting period, consists of taking one (1) sample of water from the main tap of the home visited.

If your residence was sampled in 2020 and previous years, you can still register since a new sampling protocol has been in effect since.

The City of Montreal employee will be clearly identified along with the vehicle used.
