Conference: A Step into the World of Natural Predators with Séréna Bilodeau

Dive into the tiny world and take a moment, during this conference, to notice what you usually don’t see. When pests attack a plant, it’s often the damage we notice before we ever see the insects themselves.
They are so small that they often go unnoticed. To eliminate them, one might think that the stronger the dose, the better the treatment. However, some chemical products used to treat plants persist for weeks and poison bees and lizards that come into contact with them.
Is that really the best solution? No—of course not. Let’s work hand in hand with nature. Let’s weave ourselves into the food chain by becoming practitioners of biological control, rather than destroying it and putting our pollinators at risk. Through this conference, learn the basics of biological control—from identifying pests to choosing beneficial organisms and introducing them effectively.
Understand the life cycle of garden insects—from birth to reproduction—in order to control them effectively. Friend or foe? You will learn how to recognize and distinguish them. You’ll leave with practical, biological solutions for managing insects in your garden. You’ll never find mites so adorable!
