Septic Tank Emptying | East Sector

Be prepared: the 2025 septic tank emptying period for the East Sector will begin in mid-June.

  • A notice will be sent by mail approximately two weeks before your scheduled visit.
  • Last year, several septic tank access covers (lids) were found buried or covered by grass, pavers, or other materials. This led to significant delays in completing the work and resulted in additional administrative costs. 

Please note that lids must be extended to ground level and must never be buried or obstructed by landscaping. Otherwise, municipal inspectors are authorized to issue a notice of infraction with a fine ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, in accordance with regulation Q-2, r. 22.

Inspections related to this requirement will take place between May and November 2025. 

Also note that if your septic tank cannot be emptied due to inaccessible lids, an additional fee of $22 will be billed directly to you for the second visit

Septic Tank Emptying Reports

Reports are available upon request after the emptying, by contacting Services de Rebuts Soulanges or the Town.

Please note that this report does not serve as proof of compliance for your septic system. Only a full inspection can confirm whether your installation meets the standards of regulation Q-2, r. 22.

Prefilter Cleaning

Although the Town provides septic tank emptying services to residences not connected to the municipal sewer network, it is the owner’s responsibility to clean the prefilter of the septic tank every year.

The prefilter traps particles that should not enter the leaching bed and helps extend its lifespan. If not cleaned regularly, the prefilter may block water flow, cause backups into the home, and prevent wastewater from draining properly.
