- Proper Use of Your Septic Tank
Proper Use of Your Septic Tank
Published on March 3, 2025
Your septic tank is designed to treat only domestic wastewater, such as human waste, toilet paper, dishwashing water, laundry water, and bathroom wastewater. Introducing other materials can disrupt its proper functioning.
» If contaminated with prohibited items, the tank cannot be emptied, and you will be responsible for decontamination costs. During the 2024 pumping season, we found items such as:
- Condoms
- Tampons and sanitary pads
- Hair elastics
- Wipes (even those labeled “biodegradable”)
- Cotton pads and cotton swabs
These items can cause significant damage to your septic system and pumping equipment. Proper use of your septic tank is essential for its smooth operation.
