- NOTICE REGARDING THE TASTE AND ODOUR OF DRINKING WATER
NOTICE REGARDING THE TASTE AND ODOUR OF DRINKING WATER
Published on July 20, 2023
The City of Montreal informs us that a slight difference can be noticed in the odour and taste of the drinking water from the Pointe-Claire water production plant.
This situation is due to the presence of algae in the river. The growth of algae is maximal when the water temperature is higher, as it is the case during this summer period.
Appropriate treatment is applied to remove the algae from the drinking water, but an earthy taste may persist while the circulating water is renewed.
It is important to note that the current situation does not represent a health hazard. The odour and taste of the water can be diminished by placing pitchers of water in the refrigerator.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
