Limited Reopening and New Safety Measures of the Town Library

Published on July 3, 2020

The library will be accessible to the public again in a limited capacity starting Monday, July 6th. Our hours of operation will be reduced until further notice and we will be open Monday to Friday from 2:30 to 5:00, and Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00. For safety reasons, the doors to the Whiteside Taylor Centre will remain locked, but you will be able to enter the building during opening hours by using our new library specific door bell.

With a focus on reducing contact and keeping our community safe, here are some of the new measures you’ll see at our library:

  • To ensure social distancing, we are limiting the number of people allowed in the library to seven at a time.
  •  Hand sanitizer will be made available to visitors at the library’s entrance.
  • Plexiglas screens have been installed at the circulation desk to reduce risks when borrowing books.
  • To limit contact, returns will not be accepted at the circulation desk and all books must be returned at the Book Return Bin.
  • To respect physical distancing, our aisles will be limited to one person at a time when browsing through the collection
  • Library users are invited to limit their visit to 30 minutes at a time.
We understand that some patrons are still concerned about the use of public spaces, so our No Contact Loan service will be available to users Monday to Friday from 2:30 to 4:45 by appointment only. Contact us if you have any questions about our re-opening and new safety measures.
