Launch of the “Your Speed, Their Safety” Campaign

Published on August 20, 2026

With the start of the school year, the Town of Baie-D’Urfé is launching its new road safety campaign, “Your Speed, Their Safety,” reminding motorists of the importance of slowing down and remaining vigilant, particularly near schools, pedestrian crossings and on residential streets.

This year’s campaign features four backpacks in the Town’s official colours. The simple and colourful visual conveys an important message: behind every backpack is a child.

To mark the launch of the campaign, Mayor Heidi Ektvedt was joined by Commander Jean-Sébastien Masson of SPVM PDQ1, Marouan Bel Fakir, Community Relations Advisor with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), Gillian Bennett and Linda Tait, co-directors of the Volunteer Citizens on Patrol (vCOPs), and Tony Brown, representative of the Traffic and Road Safety Advisory Committee. Their presence reflects a shared commitment to road safety throughout our community.

The campaign message has been shared through door-to-door cards, signs displayed throughout the Town and online promotion, helping reach residents in different ways and keeping road safety top of mind.

As the school year begins, we encourage all road users to remain especially vigilant and take their time. Your speed, their safety.

This year’s campaign is made possible thanks to the full financial support of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).
