Drinking Water Sampling and Analysis Campaign by the City of Montreal 2026
Published on July 15, 2026
Please note that all spots for this year's drinking water sampling and analysis program have been filled.
The City of Montreal will carry out its annual sampling campaign to measure the presence of lead and copper in tap water, in accordance with the Regulation respecting the quality of drinking water. The results of this annual sampling are required by the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP).
If you wish to participate in this campaign and your residence was built before the 1970s, you must contact the Public Works Department at 514-457-2877 before August 1, 2026.
Please note that five (5) private properties will be analyzed. Spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sampling will take place on August 27, August 31, and September 1, 2026. The visit, lasting approximately 50 minutes, including a 30-minute waiting period, consists of taking one (1) water sample from the main tap of the residence.
If your residence was sampled in 2020 or in previous years, you may still register, as a new sampling protocol is now in effect.
The City of Montreal employee will be clearly identified, along with the vehicle being used.
