CodeRED Alert System — External Cybersecurity Incident and Ongoing Transition to a New Provider

Published on December 1, 2025

The Town of Baie-D’Urfé informs residents that a cybersecurity incident occurred at OnSolve, the company responsible for the “CodeRED” alert system used by the Town during emergency situations. This system operates entirely independently from municipal systems. As such, none of the Town’s technological infrastructure was affected, and the situation is strictly limited to the external provider, OnSolve.

According to the information provided by OnSolve, data associated with the CodeRED platform was removed from their systems by an unauthorized third party during the month of November and may potentially be made public. The personal information provided to CodeRED and affected by this incident includes basic contact details such as name, address, telephone number, and email address, as well as the password associated with the creation of the CodeRED account profile.

CodeRED and all associated accounts are no longer accessible. The risks related to this incident are mainly linked to the reuse of the same CodeRED password for other services. If you used your CodeRED password for any other online services, it is recommended that you immediately change those passwords and replace them with a strong and unique password for each service. As always, remain vigilant with respect to unsolicited or unexpected communications.

The Town of Baie-D’Urfé wishes to reassure residents:

  • no municipal system was affected,
  • our infrastructures remain secure.

OnSolve is continuing its investigation and working to restore the integrity of its platform. The Town is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to inform residents of any significant developments.

Citizen Alert Service: Status Update and Next Steps

OnSolve, the provider responsible for the CodeRED alert service, has migrated its platform to Crisis24, which is not affected by this incident and is continuing its investigation. The Town is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to keep residents informed of any significant developments.

The Town is currently reviewing different options to ensure continuity with a reliable and secure alert tool.

In addition, the Town continues to regularly review its practices and those of its service providers to ensure they meet appropriate security standards.
