Bertold Park Redevelopment Set to Begin

Published on October 1, 2024

Exciting changes are coming to Bertold Park! This week marks the start of the redevelopment project, aimed at enhancing the park’s facilities and making it a more welcoming space for all residents. The first phase of work will focus on preparing the site, including protecting the existing trees, installing a construction fence, and storing necessary materials.

The improvements being implemented are based on recommendations from the PRAC and will include several new features: a brand-new bathroom, the replacement of the flagpole, the creation of a “Bench-fit” zone, and the addition of a walking path for residents to enjoy. New park furniture will also be installed, along with trees and plantings that will enhance the natural beauty of the park. The trees are being planted with the help of a generous grant from Tree Canada/CN.

The work will be carried out by Groupe Madyla Inc., under the guidance of HETA for landscape architecture and Avizo Experts-Conseils for civil engineering. It’s worth noting that the wood from the old flagpole will be preserved and may be used in a future artistic installation, further enriching the park’s aesthetic.

The project is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete. We ask for your patience and cooperation during this time, and we look forward to unveiling the revitalized park for everyone to enjoy.
